PAWS IN THE PARK 13-14 SEPTEMBER 2008, HOP FARM, PADDOCK WOOD, KENT
The ‘Dashing Dalmatians’ team displayed their talent for obedience and showmanship at Paws in the Park in Paddock wood Kent in September in front of huge crowds. The rare good weather made the event a spectacular success for the organisers and the Dalamtians were in the ring twice each day over the weekend. The obedience routines were followed by a display of carriage dogs. Anne Dickens and Anna Gambles’ Fenris and Freya worked with spotty pony Parker as usual. Gail Cotterill’s Skittle worked behind skewbald Jacko with Sue Stevens driving. And youngster Splash worked behind her owner Miranda Purves’ 4-wheeler pulled by Marmite and Addie. Lester Dagge, show organiser said afterwards: “If ever there was a show stopper, it had to be this. The ring sides were packed with spectators to see the six turnouts offer their magnificent displays. Even the judges in adjacent rings had a raw deal to keep their attention off the Dalmatians. Uncertain as to how the class would perform, Jane Friend (who helped devise the class) was delighted with the outcome, whilst Alison Burgess and her dog Woody working with a borrowed Norfolk cart with Ray Williams, showed effortlessly the skill of the working carriage dog!”
